as expected, has turned into another chapter of the media
over-dramatizing a situation. It is this kind of media crap that
has driven people to get their news from other sources such as
the internet.
Certainly, any disease that has killed people is cause for
concern. But, throwing around words like Pandemic is completely
uncalled for. What have we had, 100 cases of Swine Flu in the
United States? Because of that, schools in Chicago, Milwaukee and
other places are closing. People are being told not to travel.
Even our own Vice President, the one man gaph machine, said
people shouldn't ride in confined spaces such as airplanes on
subways. Some advocate for mass transit eh? And to his little
pee on spokesperson, no matter how you spin it, he did say don't
be in any confined spaces and he can't say otherwise, videotape
doesn't lie and it's probably all out there on the internet for
everyone to hear.
What, by our beloved Federal Government are we being told to do
about Swine Flu? The same common sense things we should do at all
times. That is, wash our hands thoroughly of often. If you are
sick stay home (better tell that to half the people who ride
Chicago area commuter trains). Keep your children home from
school if they are sick, duh!
Swine Flu is serious and needs to be taken seriously. But guess
what? So does every other illness and the sooner the media stops
obsessing over Swine Flu and communicates that the precautions we
should take are nothing more than common sense, the better off
we'll all be.
